SLA Battery-Powered Mobility Scooters

Our sealed lead-acid (SLA) mobility scooters use dry, non-spillable, non-lithium batteries with extremely low fire risk. Despite being heavier and generally bulkier than lithium mobility scooters, SLA models are trusted by occupational therapists (OTs) and users who prioritise safety and peace of mind over portability.

SLA mobility scooters have been used in Singapore for decades without a single fire incident reported. Unlike lithium batteries, SLA batteries are not prone to thermal runaway and use non-flammable electrolytes that do not act as fuel in the event of a malfunction.

Other advantages of SLA mobility scooters include:

  • Stability: Their additional weight makes SLA mobility scooters more stable, especially on uneven paths and outdoor terrain.
  • Power: Since portability is not the priority, SLA mobility scooters can be fitted with more powerful motors, making them well suited for use on public transport such as MRT and buses.
  • Affordability: SLA batteries cost less than lithium batteries, and SLA scooters often use steel frames that are heavier but stronger and cheaper. This typically makes SLA scooters more affordable than lithium models.
  • Lower Maintenance Costs: SLA batteries are more affordable to replace, reducing long-term ownership costs compared with lithium models.

All our products also come with battery chargers that are Singapore Safety Mark Certified.

They are compliant with Land and Transport Authority (LTA) 2026 rules and can be legally used on public paths in Singapore now and in the future. However, from 2026, users of mobility scooters will require Assessment for Mobility Scooter (AMS) certification. This is not required for:
