收藏: Lithium Battery-Powered PMAs (Personal Mobility Aids)

Lithium battery-powered PMAs (personal mobility aids) such as electric wheelchairs and mobility scooters are designed to be lightweight and portable, making them easy to transport in a car or bring along when travelling. They are also suitable in situations where frequent carrying is required, such as going over a flight of steps.

While lithium batteries carry some fire risk, the risk is very low when original batteries are used and the devices are not illegally modified. ELFIGO PMAs use only original UN38.3-certified batteries from reputable medical device manufacturers. Our chargers are also certified to the Singapore Safety Mark standard.

However, if light weight is not a critical requirement, sealed lead-acid (SLA) PMAs are a good alternative. They may be heavier and bulkier, but they have an extremely low risk of catching fire.

All our motorised wheelchairs and mobility scooters are compliant with Land and Transport Authority (LTA) 2026 rules and can be legally used on public paths in Singapore now and in the future.

From 1 June 2026, mobility scooter users will require a Certificate of Medical Need (CMN). This is not required for:

  • Motorised wheelchair users.
  • Seniors aged 70 and above.
  • Users of government-subsidised mobility scooters.
  •  Past and future applicants of Ministry of Health (MOH) disability schemes.
