The 8 kg ELFIGO Travelier was created precisely for this situation. It is the world’s lightest motorised wheelchair designed specifically for travel — and the first built from the ground up to be caregiver-controlled, rather than having attendant control added as an afterthought.
Traditional electric wheelchairs are designed primarily for patient control, with attendant controllers or remote controls added later. This makes them unsuitable in situations where the patient cannot be trusted with a joystick within easy reach, such as in cases of Dementia, Stroke, or Parkinson's disease.
Our solution is simple yet ingenious: remove the joystick altogether.
The ELFIGO Travelier is 100% driven by a Bluetooth remote control, which remains safely in the caregiver’s hands. Without a joystick assembly, the chair is also able to achieve lower weight and cost.
Using the remote control, the chair can be folded automatically into the size of a mid-sized suitcase, making it easy to transport when travelling. The battery is a CCC-certified powerbank, allowing it to be carried on airplanes within China (subject to airline regulations).
For families travelling with mobility-compromised seniors, it is truly a dream come true.
Disclaimers
The chair is designed primarily for flat, level surfaces. While it has sufficient power to climb slopes and brake on them, manual assistance from the caregiver is recommended on slopes, as controlling the chair remotely may be more difficult on inclined surfaces.
The joystick on the remote control is miniaturised, which means finger movements are magnified and fine motor skills are required for precise control. Unless the user has good hand coordination, it is recommended that the caregiver operate the wheelchair.
