CNA Interview with ELFIGO | Retailers warn of higher mobility scooter prices under new LTA regulations

Channel News Asia (CNA) interviewed ELFIGO Mobility founder, Mr Warren Chew, to seek his views on the upcoming personal mobility aid (PMA) regulations.

Mr Chew noted that mobility scooter prices across the market could rise by up to 15%. Sellers will incur additional transportation costs as devices must be sent to inspection centres for individual tagging, along with inspection fees. These added expenses are likely to be passed on to consumers, resulting in higher prices in Singapore.

He also stressed the importance of formally closing ownership transfer requests to enhance accountability. Without a proper closure process, sellers may face unnecessary issues if devices are subsequently used by individuals without medical needs.
